WINTERarts: The Language of the Mind

A writing masterclass with Michelle Johnston.

Most writing advice recommends the use of generous sensual detail. But what is it about material infused with the senses that makes such text so immersive to read? This workshop with debut novelist Michelle Johnston, author of Dustfall, dives into places you may not ordinarily go – you’ll travel deep into the human brain, to understand why sensuous detail is so compelling. Michelle will combine a peppering of neurobiology with philosophy and good old-fashioned writing craft to discover how to tap into the mystery of the private universe that is the human mind.
