Event: -
Now in it's second year, the upcoming Winter Winefest two day weekend event, is a unique opportunity to celebrate the very best high quality wines produced by the family owned and run Nillumbik estate.

Over the weekend of Saturday 18th of June and Sunday 19th June 2011, you will be able to sample special boutique wines, which have been teamed up with a special menu of winter favourites created by esteemed chefs.

Special dining events and live entertainment will occur around the region;

Head to Lovegrove Vineyard and Winery (1420 Heidelberg Kinglake Road, Cottles Bridge VIC 3099), on either Saturday 18th of June or Sunday 19th of June, to sample some of the regions best wines, perfectly complimented with an appetising menu; choose from dishes such as Italian Pork & Fennel Sausage with Choucroute of Red Cabbage, Pear & Hazelnut and Potato Gratin, with a glass of Lovegrove 2009 Shiraz, or perhaps a Spinach, Fetta & Ricotta Gozleme with a glass of Lovegrove 2010 Chardonnay. Dessert is also covered with Flourless Chocolate, Cinnamon & Macadamia Cake, teamed with a Lovgrove 2006 Liqeuer Sauvignon Blanc.

See the Saturday (18/6) menu and pricelist here and the Sunday (19/6) menu and pricelist here. While you dine, either inside by the fireplace or outside in courtyard, you can enjoy live entertainment provided by Sandro Donati.

Yarrambat Estate (45 Laurie Street, Yarrambat VIC 3091) is also participating in the 2011 Winter Winefest. The menu offered by the Yarrambat Estate will include samples of their boutique range of wines, complimented with a special menu of gourmet wood fire pizza - the perfect winter meal.

Hildebrand Ridge Organic Winery (160 Hildebrand Rd, Cottles Bridge VIC 3099) is also offering something a little different - the special menu will be created by the team at Doctor Java, a popular restaurant located in Smith Street, Collingwood. Hildebrand Ridge are well known for their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet wines and the special dining experience will be accompanied with live entertainment.

Panton Hill Vineyard and Winery (145 Manuka Road, Panton Hill VIC 3759) are showcasing their very best estate produced wines, with a unique menu, which includes dishes such as Moroccan lamb shanks, vegetable torte served with sweet onion marmalade and apple and raspberry crumble with ice-cream.

Redbox Vineyard (2 Ness Lane, Kangaroo Ground VIC 3097), are also participating in the festivities, presenting their acclaimed wines with dishes such as Thai creme pumpkin soup and 'hot exotic finger food.'

Shaws Road Vineyard & Winery (225 Shaws Rd, Arthurs Creek VIC 3099), are presenting a French inspired menu to compliment their range of boutique wines; choose from classic dishes such as Cassoulet, or Apted's apple pie, made will locally grown produced.

All these vineyards are around a 1/2 hour drive from the Melbourne CDB, so perhaps visit one or two as a day trip, or make it a mini weekend escape by visiting all the vineyards of the Nillumbik estate.

With the various menus moderately priced (dishes are between $10 and $15 per serve), this really is not only an affordable experience, but it is also the perfect opportunity to experience something a little different this Winter.

Most of the participating vineyards do not require bookings. For further information, please see the Winter Winefest website here, or contact the respective vineyards and estates directly.
