Get Your Skates On
These school holidays, embrace the winter chill, and get your skates on at the Icehouse. The Medibank Icehouse is located centrally in Melbourne's Docklands precinct. It boasts a unique school holiday program to entertain the whole family.
Although it would be great to hit the slopes and take the kids to the snow, it is pretty pricey, and requires lots of equipment and travel time. Going for a skate at the Icehouse is much more convenient, and much easier on the hip pocket! Hot tip: If you have a current Entertainment Book, make sure you grab the Icehouse voucher to make your outing more affordable (Buy one public skate get one free, OR 25% off Family Pass)
Whether you and the kids are novice or experienced skaters, there are activities and sessions to please all ages and skill levels.
This session is a great introduction for toddlers and young children to experience playing in the snow (ages 3-8). 'Ice Ambassadors' will be on hand to assist the children, using toys, music and snow play games. This is the only session that children can wear ice skates or their own shoes on the ice. Remember to wear warm clothing, and bring a change of clothes, as the children will be playing in the ice and snow.
The first week of the school holidays is dedicated to Cars. The ice rink will be converted into a roaring racetrack, and Lightning McQueen will be there to meet all his fans. There will be a specially designed bob sled that the kids can ride to experience the ice in a unique way. Ice carving experts will also be there to turn a huge block of ice into a replica of Lightning McQueen!
The second week of the school holidays will see Frozen take over the ice rink. Children and parents are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Frozen character and enjoy the fun. Children can record themselves singing Karaoke versions of the Frozen hits 'Let It Go', 'Do You Want To Build A Snowman?', and 'First Time In Forever'. There will also be live performances on the ice of these songs. And of course Frozen will be playing on the big screen overlooking the ice.
There will also be giveaways and prize packs throughout the 2 weeks.
