The school holidays are action packed with fun things for kids of all ages to do around Brisbane. The highlights this winter will be The Out of The Box Festival and Snow 4 Kids in the City Botanic Gardens, and I have included ten other great activity ideas below. If you're searching for some rainy day inspiration, be sure to visit My Kid Craft and Kid Recipes .

1. Out of the Box Festival, QPAC:

There are many hands on and movement based experiences to be had at The Out of The Box Festival, which has a monster theme this year. Seeing Justine Clarke live on stage, or Carnival of the Animals, a performance by Circa, will be a real treat for the kids these holidays. Or maybe they might like to learn Bollywood Dancing, or have a henna tattoo?

2. Snow 4 Kids, City Botanic Gardens:

It is a rare surprise for Brisbane kids to be able to make their own snow man, have a snow ball fight or ride a real toboggan, but Snow4Kids have got it all ready for you this winter. Entry is free into the arena, however there will be a cost involved for entry into the activities. Don't forget to bring your beanies, gloves and gumboots.

3. Zoo Keeper for a Day, Various Zoos:

If your child has an affinity with animals, then they will enjoy joining a zoo keeper for a day program. Australia Zoo , Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary each run junior ranger programs during the winter school holidays.

4. Pattern Bandits, GOMA:

Enter the world of colorful kaleidoscopes, happy harlequins and tantalising tessellations these school holidays at Jemima Wyman's hands on art exhibition designed especially for children. Kids are encouraged to make their own mandala to be included in the exhibition and they can also create their own colorful bandanna.

5. Science Fiction, Science Future, Queensland Museum:

If you have not visited this exhibition yet, then be sure to see it before it closes. Expect to learn about holograms, worm holes and the power of the mind. The fascinating Deep Oceans Exhibition is also open during the school holidays.

6. Disney on Ice, Entertainment Centre:

Watch your favorite Disney characters twirl across the ice these holidays at Boondall. The Treasure Trove production will take families through fifty years of Disney's animated children's films and will definitely be a treat to remember.

7. Abbey Medieval Festival, Caboolture:

Dress up as a prince or princess of old at this unusual themed festival. The annual event is a feast for the senses and you could imagine yourself journeying back in time at the jousting tournament or the huge medieval banquet. The Medieval Kids Festival will take place on Tuesday, July 8th.

8. Powerkids Festival, Powerhouse:

This is a super fun performing arts based festival just for kids. They can join a singing workshop or learn some circus moves from Vulcana Women's Circus, but the highlight for the little ones will be the Yo Gabba Gabba Show , no doubt.

9. Roller Skating, Albany Creek:

Use up that excess energy skating or blading around the roller rink to your favorite tunes. There is a lot of healthy fun to be had learning to balance and joining in the games at the daily scheduled holiday sessions.

10. Parks and Playgrounds, across Brisbane:

Pack a picnic, lie in the sun and get out and enjoy our balmy winter weather at one of Brisbane's stunning 2060 parks or 1012 amazing playgrounds . Have fun.
