Centennial Parklands has a fantastic range of hands on outdoor activities on offer during the winter school holidays. From fishing to survival skills, science fun, sports and lego robotics, it won't be difficult to convince the kids to head out and enjoy the great outdoors this winter.

It is important to note that numbers are limited for each activity and bookings are essential. Bookings can be made online via the links for each activity below.

Kids Big Fish
Tuesday 5th July and Thursday 14th July from 9am - 12noon



Kids can learn or improve their fishing skills with this hands on activity coached by "Tony the Fish Whisperer". All children must be supervised by an adult and bring their own rod and reel.
Suitable for children aged 8 - 15 years, the cost is $30 per person (any non-fishing supervising adults are free). For more information or to make a booking click here.

Kids Vs Wild
Tuesday 5th July & Tuesday 12th July from 1.30pm - 3.30pm



Young Bear Grylls fans can put their survival skills to the test at Kids Vs Wild. Children can learn the fine art of lighting a fire, without using a lighter or matches. They will collect tinder and kindling bundles and use a fire steel and friction to get the fire started. Then they will cook some delicious damper on the open fire. CP Bush Rangers
Wednesday 6th July and Wednesday 13th July from 9am - 4pm



The CP Bush Rangers will enjoy a day in the outdoors led by an experienced team of rangers exploring wildlife and enjoying bushcrafts, games and outdoor challenges. Suitable for children aged 5 - 13 year old and costs $85 per person. Children are required to wear old clothes, bring their own lunch, water, snacks, hat and sunscreen.

Spotlight Prowl
Wednesday 6th July & Tuesday 19th July from 5pm - 6pm



Go searching for wildlife after dark on this spotlight tour. Led by an experienced ranger you can see how the park transforms at night and may see nocturnal creatures such as possums, microbats, tawny frogmouths or flying foxes. The tour runs for approximately 1 hour and is suitable for children aged 5 years and over and their families. To make a booking click here.

Exploring Science
Thursday 7th July from 9am - 4pm



This is a full day workshop designed for your curious and science-loving kids. They will explore topics such as light, sound, movement, energy, air pressure and more. The workshop will be run by an educator from Fizzics Education and will include child-friendly experiments and science toys. This workshop is suitable for children aged 5-12 years. The cost is $90 per person. Children are required to wear old clothes, bring their own lunch, water, snacks, hat and sunscreen.

Doomsday Science
Friday 8th July from 9 - 4pm



This full day workshop explores the science of survival in the event of a human or natural disaster, possibly a doomsday zombie attack! It will investigate the skills you might need to survive such as making water filters and generators and learning communication skills such as codes. Suitable for children aged over 8 - 14 years and costs $90 per person. Children are required to wear old clothes, bring their own lunch, water, snacks, hat and sunscreen. Lego Robotics 1 Beginners
Monday 11th July from 9am - 12 noon



This workshop is designed for beginners who want to learn more about their Lego Robots. Children will use motors and sensors and learn how to program the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots. These robots use different software to the Lego Mindstorms NXT robots used in previous holiday programs. This course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator.This workshop is suitable for children aged 7 years and up and costs $45 per person. To make a booking click here.

Lego Robotics 2 Intermediate
Monday 11th July from 1pm - 4pm

Building on the beginners course the intermediate workshop offers more challenges using the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots . It is advised that participants must have attended the Lego Robotics 1 class and be able to read and use mathematics sufficiently at a minimum Year 3 level to get the most out of this workshop. The workshop is built around a series of challenges, dependent on ability and interest. This course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator. Centennial Parklands Sports Camp
from 12th - 14th July from 9am - 4pm



Over the 3 day Sports Camp kids have the opportunity to try a variety of sports such as baseball and softball, AFL, Oz Tag, Soccer, Athletics and Ultimate Frisbee to name just a few.
Sports Camp will be held at ES Marks Athletics Field and will be led by expert coaches from Sportspro, a team of qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic sporting professionals who have a passion for sport and education.

Lego Robotics 3 Advanced
Thursday 14 July from 9am - 12 noon



If you have already attended the Lego Robotics Beginners and Intermediate workshops and want to extend your knowledge, then this is the workshop for you. Suitable for children aged 7 and above and costs $45 per person. To make a booking click here.

Lego Robotics 4 Expert
Thursday 14 July from 1pm - 4pm

For kids who know what they are doing and can make EV3 Robots do what they want with ease. The skill of the attendees will determine the type of problems given to the kids. Suitable for children aged 7 years and above and costs $45 per person.

Survive and Thrive
Friday 15 July from 9am - 12 noon



A fun workshop looking at different animals and how they have adapted to survive in harsh environments or against predators. Children will learn about animal anatomy and how DNA shapes living things. The course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator. This workshop is suitable for children aged 8 - 14 years old and costs $45 per person. Click here to make a booking.

Create a Buzz
Friday 15th July from 1pm - 4pm



Ever wondered how static electricity or magnetic fields work? Ever wanted to learn what makes a motor turn? In this workshop you will explore how electricity works and look at different types of circuits, resistors, diodes and motors. You might even have your own hair-raising experience! Suitable for children aged 8 - 14 years old and costs $45 per person. To make a booking click here.
