The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) have a full on school holiday program that'll keep the kids active and fit, while having fun. Kids will get the opportunity to try lots of different circus activities that includes juggling, rope, tumbling, tightwire, aerial ring, tissu, plate spinning, hula hoops and more. The workshop trainers are NICA graduates and professional circus artists who love to share their love of circus.
NICA is the only institute in the southern hemisphere that provides a Bachelor of Circus Arts. Aside from delivering accredited training for the professionals in the circus, they also offer a wide range of fun and safe recreational courses for children through to adults. Events will be located atSidney Myer Studio entrance, 39-59 Green St, Prahran, and sessions will run from9.30am to 3.30pm from Mon 1 to Fri 12 July 2019. CLICK HERE for your Online Enrolment.
Keep in mind that you also have other kids school holiday activity options as the Roola Boola Children's Arts Festival 2019 also runs from 2-12 July 2019 with Satellite Events and Programs at Chapel Off Chapel, Prahran.
The 3 hour single day workshop (5-12 years) will give the kids time to try a number of different activities; but really, by the time the fun starts and the kids are settled in, it's almost time to go. They need to bring a water bottle and snack each day. The week long 3 hour workshops (5-12 years) is more of the same.
The Winter School Holiday Circus Program; day at the circus (5-12 years) obviously gives the kids more time to truly experience everything going, including performance presentation and more. Bring the water bottle, lunch and snacks your child needs each day. The week at the circus (5-12 years) is again more of the same, just for longer.
If you have teens (12-18 years), you might want to look into the Intro to Aerials; where beginners will get to try a variety of aerial apparatus including tissu, static trapeze and aerial hoop, focusing on aerial awareness, coordination, building strength and mastering basic skills. The Teen Into To Circus - Ground (12-18 years) gives the kids who are not attracted to the aerial program, a sample of ground based circus activities to find out what they love about basic tumbling, trampolining, juggling, manipulation, tight wire and acrobalance.
There are also 2 day programs for the teens that go from intermediate to intensive, so you might want to check it all out HERE. For Come and Try Circus Day, see HERE. Stay updated via the Facebook page.
