An interactive and fun experience for the whole family

Get locked up at Boggo Road Gaol these winter school holidays!

Steeped in 119 years of colourful history and with so many nooks and crannies to explore, the History Tour at Brisbane's infamous Boggo Road Gaol is a fantastic day out for the entire family over the winter holidays, and best of all, it's affordable.

The History Tour runs at 11am daily during the holidays and last approximately 75 minutes, taking you through jail precincts such as the heritage-listed No. 2 Division, which is still as it was when the jail was closed back in July 1992. Discover tales of dramatic escapes, infamous inmates, lifers, riots, rooftop protests, and the daily lives of prisoners and the duties of officers.

What does the tour include?

  • 75 minute family-friendly History Tour with Tour Guide

  • Entry into historic Number 2 Division, Boggo Road Gaol

  • Visits to the gatehouse, yards, the Circle and ends with time to explore F Wing cell block where prisoners staged a rooftop protest in 1988

  • See original prisoner cells and authentic 1980s prisoner graffiti
