Yes, contrary to what some non-locals believe, Brisbane does actually have a Winter. It never gets cold enough to snow, and you never have to chip ice off your windscreen, but when it dips down below ten degrees celsius you feel it a bit more when you live in a building that's designed to let the heat out.
So what's the upside to the (somewhat) colder weather here? Personally I enjoy a break from the heat and a chance to wear long coats and other clothing that I would normally roast in. It's also nice to have an excuse to drink hot chocolate or mulled wine and sit by the fire if you've got one. And there's knowing that your makeup won't be sweated off at the end of the day and being able to go for walks without feeling like you're going to melt.
What's your favourite thing about Winter in the fair city of Brisvegas?
Feeling the winter sun on your face (or back - just as nice!) about mid-morning is great. The weather is just cool enough that the sun makes you feel pleasantly warm, rather than ready-to-evaporate hot.
Here are the reasons I look forward to winter in Brisbane - hot chocolate, knitting, wearing hats, knee high boots, scarves, soups and stews, snuggling under a rug to read a book, the growth in my garden slows down for a while and noticing how other people seem to dress way nicer in the cold weather!
