Sydney is such a great city to live in. Events, festivals, markets, the harbour, restaurants, different parks and Galleries around the city abound. Most of our weekends are spent locally, thus rarely venturing elsewhere if it's a few hours away unless it's the long weekend or we are on our annual holiday. How about enticing you somewhere further, out of your comfort zone and away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Sydney and head to Newcastle?

The second most populated area in the State of New South Wales and the largest coal exporting harbour in the world not to mention where Miss Universe 2004 Jennifer Hawkins spent some of her time as a cheerleader for Newcastle Kinighs rugby league. Newcastle is not just a traditional area of heavy industries.





Since 2003, with the initiative of an organization called Newcastle NOW and the collaboration with Live sites, they have delivered programs and had been continuing to do so with exciting events and activities attracting artists and likeminded organizations to Newcastle region. So this June 2013, they will be presenting Winter Heat Program. It's four fun days of excitement, creativity, fire wonders and many more held at Honeysuckle Boardwalk.



Honeysuckle is the Hunter's premier waterfront playground, where you can find an array of world class restaurants, where different cultures gather to enjoy the glistening harbour. Various cafés with sumptuous food enticing visitors and locals alike to simply enjoy the day.



Honeysuckle is also home to hotels, residential apartments, townhouses, the Marina, and various busy commercial places. Not to mention the extensive public spaces, boardwalks, where you can stroll and feel the magic of the harbour.



The fun starts with 3 days of free artist Lantern workshops, where you can have the chance to showcase your artwork and join in the Winter Heat finale Lantern parade

Time : 11 AM to 1PM

Then for the Winter Heat finale, prepare to be dazzle and amazed by the wonders of fire performers. The kaleidoscope of colours emitting from the glow of fire, dancing right in front of your eyes will awe you. Watch the Firewalk Drummers on their attempt to break the World Fire Jam Record.

Getting there
Road
Newcastle is a 2 hour drive north of Sydney and is easily accessible from F3, Pacific Highway, New England Highway. You can always visit this website for directions to Newcastle.

Rail
If you are catching a train from Central Station, the trip will approximately take two hours and a half, depending on the time of the day. Return services to Newcastle run frequently. Please check this website or call 131500 for timetables and fares.

Coach/Bus
