Sydney Opera House
Are you looking for something fun and artsy for your kids these school holidays and throughout winter? Keen to expose them to some fun theatre? Then look no further than the
Sydney Opera House program.
For younger children aged six and over, there’s
James and the Giant Peach , based on the novel by Roald Dahl and is presented by Shake and Stir. Coming to the stage in July from the fifth to the twenty-first, kids and adults alike will enjoy this chaotic and mayhem-filled adaptation of one of Roald Dahl’s most popular novels.
If you have kids aged four and older who enjoy dancing, then
Forest City might be for them. Children who attend Forest City will join two dancers on stage, and use projections and play to build the city of their dreams. Immersive and colourful full-scale projections, digital technology and dance will bring this experience to life – and all direct from Italy.
Let your kids grow the city of their imagination with architecture – bouses and streets, colour and light and combine it with the living environment - grass, trees and insects, and thanks to digital technology, this scenery will become interactive and allow your kids to immerse themselves in the world they have created.
There’s also some cool stuff happening for kids outside of the school holidays, like
The River that Ran Uphill , a moving tale about what happens when a community faces adversity. It will entertain and deliver a powerful message about climate change and survival. The performance is based on a story of surviving the 2015 Cyclone Pam that ravaged the South Pacific. This story is based on the lived experience of a survivor, Edgell Junior, and explores the power of cooperation and resilience when faced with such adversity.
Other offerings include:
There’s something for everyone this July at the
Sydney Opera House , and as always, keep an eye on the website and links for any updates or changes.
