I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
You can find Winmalee Tavern behind Winmalee shopping centre. The outside of the building is quite nondescript but the inside is light, airy and clean and contains a large bistro area as well as a sports bar. There are the usual gaming facilities such as Keno, TAB and a VIP Lounge and Fox and SKY racing are played on a variety of screens.
The bistro has a large menu which contains options suitable for everyone. There is a good range of specials and different nightly dinner deals. T- bone Tuesday, Rump Day Wednesday or Parmy Thursday are some of the nightly specials.
The $12 lunch specials are great value (11am - 3pm weekdays) and a schooner of soft drink is included. The steak sandwich was delicious and juicy and was a large serving. Children's meals are $10 each and on Monday evenings are free with each meal more than $15. The portions of chips were very generous and well cooked, not greasy.
The staff and other patrons are friendly and welcoming and there is a relaxed casual vibe especially at a midweek lunchtime. Tavern membership is available and gives access to happy hours and a weekly draw. Other entertainment includes free trivia on Wednesday nights, free pool on Thursday nights and poker tournaments.
