Where Is The Freshest Seafood Served For The Whole Family?
I was talking to a friend of mine about my love of fresh seafood. He asked if I'd ever eaten at this seafood place behind the Tooradin Airport, Wings & Fins. I'd never heard of it. I didn't know there was a seafood place behind Tooradin Airport. Apparently, this place serves seafood flown in daily from Flinders Island. Now that's fresh! Why hadn't I ever heard of this place? Naturally, I booked a table the following weekend and off we went.

Only 30km from Dandenong we were there in no time. Up a gravel drive and low and behold, a restaurant sits up on the hill to the right off the airport - mind you the airport is the size of a school portable. It's an airfield really.

Let's see what this place is like!

It's a bistro really. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant is very nice. It became obvious though that the decor and fit out is not why you are there. It's the seafood. That's why the place was packed. All there for the fresh seafood. Now let's order. Have a look at the menu

Freshest Seafood Ever
Fresh Oysters As A Starter

Freshest Seafood Ever
Seared scallops with pea purée,bacon crumb and asparagus.

I wasn't sure what to order for our mains. Everything that was coming out looked sensational. The crays were massive, but I felt like some fish so I ordered the swordfish.

Freshest Seafood Ever
Sesame and Szechuan pepper crusted swordfish with pickled slaw and pan tossed bokchoy

We closed the meal sharing an affogato. Refreshing!

Freshest Seafood Ever
Liqueur Affogato, fresh espresso and vanilla bean ice-cream with your choice of liqueur

It was a wonderful meal. The staff are friendly and the service is attentive. Nice gaps between courses. There is a huge balcony area overlooking the airfield if you wish to sit outside. It was a bit cool for us. Nice views from inside as well.

We had a pleasant evening. I suggest you try this place. Go for a nice long lunch. Jump in the car and enjoy the drive 30 - 40 min drive, then tuck into the freshest seafood you've ever tasted. Check out their photogallery

Crayfish pricing does depend on what time of the year you go and how much the restaurant is paying. Usually ranges between $150-160 PER KG
If you're looking just for a starter or a taste a 1.5-2kg would give 5 of you a generous taste and eager to try more off the money.

Thank you very much for your review. I'm also a seafood lover and always love to get some fresh seafood anywhere recommended.
The only thing I'm wondering is the price, as far as I can see from their website, it seems a bit pricey. Would you please give me some insight about it? How much would it be for crayfish? As I have a family of 5 to feed so it's a must for me to check how expensive it is before jumping in.

Thanks in advance.
