This is when I really wish I was a 'children' - our children today have so many exciting activities and fun workshops to choose from that if I was many years younger, I would find the choices tough!

The Sunshine Coast Council have organised Wing It! Childrens Holiday Programme, a series of workshops all about birds. These workshops are being held in two stunning locations on the Sunshine Coast, namely, the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens in Tanawha and Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve.

Wing It! brings together local and visiting artists to get childrens' imaginations soaring. There is so much on offer - weaving; carving; paint and print; sound recording; sculpture and story - this very unusual holiday programme has something to delight and inspire everyone.

Different environments call for different footwear! Children will learn how some of the Sunshine Coast birds are different when it comes to their 'shoe' styles. The Stomp! workshop is led by local artist, Wrenna Hubbard and promises to be crafty, messy and sure to get the children stomping. Participants will transform a pair of their own rubber soled summer shoes (thongs, flip flops or crocs) into wild bird stompers. Stomp in wet paint to make a bird track print or leave tracks in the sand next time you visit the beach!
NB Please note shoes will be permanently altered and may get stained with paint, which I guess in a Mum's language, means bring a really old pair with!
