Eclectic wines coupled with a light lunch & stellar views

2022 Sunday Sessions

There is a special magic to enjoying a bottle of wine in the great outdoors, en plein air, as the French might say. Follow a meandering trail to a brilliant vista and delight in a brisk walk across the ridgeline. The confluence of beautiful natural environments and an incredible selection of eclectic wines coupled with delectable light lunch provisions and stellar views sums up the Wine Hike Experience.

All hikes begin at 11am from various locations and should finish around 3:00. A good level of fitness is required with average walk distances from 4-6 kilometres with some uphill trails.

Sunday 28th August: Ripe - Brownhill Creek

Sunshine begets bulging grapes bursting with flavours both deeply delicious and profound. Enjoy wines alongside the creek side in this vibrantly lush environment. This hike itself is pretty flat and easy with a quick climb to inspect the old quarry and to grab views up onto the impressively verdant Carrick Hill.

Sunday 11th September: Effervescent - Morialta Falls

Catch elegant tongue-tingling bubbles and sip scintillating still wines on this relatively short and sweet climb to top of the Morialta Falls where we'll picnic atop the reddish rocks worn smooth by the cascading flow of water and time in this ancient place. Let the bubbles carry you away!

Sunday 25 September: Grounded - Chamber's Gully

Taste the beauty of earth & vineyard-influenced wines that each reflect the magic of their delicious patch of dirt called 'terroir'. This quick trip to the top of a rounded knoll offers a privileged picnic on top of the world with commanding 360-degree picturesque views of the Hills and the City.

Sunday 9th October: Rounded - Carrick Hill

Breaking out wines with calibrated character and defined by their smooth lines, this is a hike for the sophisticate, starting at the stately Carrick Hill national trust mansion and following the Yurrabilla Trail to an incredible rocky outcrop overlooking spectacular city views.

Saturday 29th October: Halloween Dusk Hike - Beaumont Loop. Start time 5:30

Sound ridiculous, or just ridiculously fun? Costumes are optional on this shorter hike meant to draw us up the hillside in time to take in the sunset while enjoying a tasty array of Tusmore Pizzas at the summit and equally extra-ordinary, spooky-themed wines. A total treat and a unique outdoor experience not to miss. Bring a flashlight!

Sunday 13th November: Abundant - Belair

Revel in the goodness of a country which provides us with an abundance of most sumptuous wines from all corners of this great land. Lucky and diverse, you'll find wines from North to South and from East to West in this eclectic, year-end lineup of delicious distinction and delight. Leave from the picturesque Old Belair Train Station to a relatively flat walk under the shade of the gums along the Lorikeet Loop Track to emerge at an ideal picnic spot.

Refunds and transfers

Given the unknown health variables of 2022, all Wine Hike tickets are fully refundable and transferable to any future dates. A minimum number of hikers is required for each event and confirmation of meeting times communicated directly to participants.
