It's almost that time of the year again. It's almost time for the IGA Perth Royal Show . Just as Sydneysiders measure the passing of time using the Easter Show, we Perthians would know a year has gone by when the Royal Show is here again. This time around, the dates have been set to be 29 September to 6 October 2012.

Every parent would know that going to the Royal Show is not cheap. A family ticket costs $65, and that has not included the show bags and rides and food and drinks and... you get the drift. A family day out that is guaranteed to be fun, but that would set your bank account back by perhaps a couple of hundreds.



This is where the Perth Voice competition comes in. This year, the Perth Voice Newspapers is a sponsor of the Pigeon & Poultry Pavilion at the IGA Perth Royal Show. So they have tickets to give away. Thus the competition. However, it promises not only Royal Show passes, it also promises some vouchers to accompany them. Wow. So depending on your luck, it may or may not defy the gloomy prediction of your bank account depletion. But we can only try, right?

Here's how to try: Choose one of the three options that follow (or do all three and hope for the best). Note that entries close Tuesday, 18 September 12pm, and all entries become the property of Perth Voice. Winners will be announced in the Perth Voice 22 September edition and if your name is in the winner list, your tickets will be posted to you via mail.

1. Colouring in Competition
Yes, you may be too old for colouring in, but your kids may not. If you have a child 12 years old or under, set them to work immediately. Hunt for all the forgotten textas, sharpen all the dull crayons, borrow those nice glitter pens that big sis has, and most importantly find a copy of Perth Voice edition of 1 September or 8 September. In any of these two editions, you would be able to find the picture to colour in. Post your entry to Voice Royal Show Comp, PO Box 85, North Fremantle 6159. If your child is one of the lucky winners, they will get:
First Prize: 1 X $50 Gift Voucher & 2 X Double Passes
Second Prize: 2 X Double Passes
Third Prize: 1 X Double Pass

2. Open Art Competition
Now there is no age limit for this one, so whatever age you are, feel free to participate. What you need to do is produce a piece of art with a chook (an animal which happens to be the logo of Perth Voice) or Royal Show theme. You may paint, sketch, design, or glue your art piece using any materials. Then send it off to Voice Royal Show Comp, PO Box 85, North Fremantle 6159 or if you wish you can also drop it off at 41 Cliff Street, Fremantle. The prizes for this competition are:
12 Years and Under Category: 1 X $50 Gift Voucher & 1 X Double Pass
13-17 Years Category: 1 X $100 Gift Voucher & 1 X Double Pass
18 Plus Category: $150 Dinner Voucher & 1 X Double Pass

3. Like Us on Facebook
There are two steps to this one. Step one is easy, you are supposed to like Perth Voice's Facebook page . Step two requires a bit more effort. You have to say why a favourite person of yours deserves to win. There are already some entries in there, so you can read a few and then do one better. You also have the option of including a photo of the said favourite person. There are ten double passes to the Royal Show to give away to the best entries.

So get thinking and start doing immediately, or you'll miss the train. See you at the Show.
