The Crow's Egg, is screening as part of the Sydney Film Festival 2015 and has been dubbed the next Slumdog Millionaire.
It is an enchanting tale suitable for children eight years and up and follows two slum dwelling children on a quest to try pizza for the very first time.
The film tells the story of two mischievous brothers who live in poverty in a Chennai slum. When a pizza parlor replaces their playground, the two carefree boys become consumed with the desire to taste this magical dish called 'pizza'.
Realising that one pizza costs more than their family's monthly income, they begin to plan ways to earn more money, inadvertently setting in motion an adventure that involves the entire city.
In the South Indian language, Tamil, with English subtitles, the film is the debut feature of director M. Manikandan.
