Escape from Melbourne this spring to visit the bright, brilliant Tesselaar Tulip Festival, held from September 11th until October 7th in the Dandenong Ranges. With more than half a million tulips in bloom, the festival is famous for transforming the hills of Silvan into an explosion of colour that draws thousands of people from far and wide.
While the tulips are the real stars of the show, the Tesselaar Tulip Festival also boasts live entertainment, a market environment, an impressive selection of foods, dancing classes for seniors, farm displays and tractor rides for the kids. During the school holidays, the Tesselaar Tulip Festival will host a special Children's Week full of adventure for kids, including face painting, petting zoos and tractor rides. Kids should also be sure to keep an eye out for the colourful Dutch windmills in the gardens, and may even spot a magical fairy garden, with real live fairies!
The festival also hosts a number of themed weekends for grown-ups, including the ever-popular Irish Weekend and the Food, Wine & Jazz Weekend, both complete with musical entertainment and specialty foods.
It's a perfect opportunity for kicking up your heels - or maybe even tiptoeing through the tulips.
For your chance to win one of 15 double passes to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival, email your details to email@example.com with Tulip Festival in the subject line by September 11th.
