Dynamic contemporary dance choreographers, Sarah Aiken and Rebecca Jensen and Darebin Arts Speakeasy are currently presenting the world premiere of Underworld - a dark, thoughtful, humorous and hopeful environmental horror at Northcote Town Hall. We are giving our subscribers the chance to win 1 of 2 double passes to the performance on Thursday 7th September 2017 at 8pm.
Aiken and Jensen recycle and re-contextualise content - considering materiality, questioning appropriation and asking 'what is ours to take'. In line with their ethos as makers, the work is practically and conceptually recycled, producing a work that is richly layered and environmentally conscious. All physical material, props and costumes have been sourced from waste product, re-purposed or up-cycled items.
Underworld is led and performed by young women, allowing strong female voices to be heard and to take up cultural space, bringing together disciplines and ideas, attempting to debunk views in relation to performance, femininity and the future. The production pushes timely themes, addressing the ever-expanding digital world we live in, our uninhibited access to information and lack of connection to the natural world around us.
To go into the draw to win a double pass valid for the performance on Thursday 7th September 2017 at 8pm, all you have to do is send an email titled 'UNDERWORLD' to firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know in 25 words or less why you want to see this anticipated production. Please make sure to include your full name as tickets will be held at the box office on the event date. 2 lucky winners will be drawn on September 5, 2017 and notified by email.
