Madiba the Musical: a celebration of Nelson Mandela
Australia celebrates the year Nelson Mandela would have turned 100 by hosting Madiba the Musical - a powerful theatrical production, which tells the story of South African's revolutionary former President.
Opening in Melbourne in October, Madiba the Musical is a compelling new stage show celebrating the life of South Africa's anti-apartheid political leader and philanthropist, who served as the country's President from 1995 - 1999.
Melbourne opens the first English language production of Madiba the Musical, which first opened in Paris in 2016.
Nelson Mandela is played by Perci Moeketsi, who was selected for the part after an extensive international search.
Australia producer Neil Crocker says of the show "Madiba the Musical is a production with both a fantastic and moving story, and some truly fabulous and joyous music and dance. This cast we have assembled of such authentic and talented actors, singers and dancers will deliver to audiences a memorable night of informative, challenging and uplifting theatre".
Madiba the Musical tells the story of Mandela's pursuit of peace and reconciliation in his homeland told through compelling music and dance acts.
Madiba the Musical will perform at the Comedy Theatre in Melbourne for just a short time from 3 to 21 October.
