To celebrate the opening of the Spanish Film Festival, we are giving you the chance to win one of 7 double passes valid at any festival session (conditions apply).
The Spanish Film Festival starts April 17 in Sydney, April 18 Canberra, April 19 Melbourne, with Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth starting April 26 and Hobart on May 3.
The Spanish Film Festival will open with a fiesta and screening of groovy comedy The Tribe, starring Paco León and Carmen Machi, following a "streetdancing" cleaning lady reunited with her long-lost son. Other highlights include It's For Your Own Good starring Javier Camara (Truman, SFF16) and the genre-hopping Abracadabra from the director of Blancanieves. The iconoclastic film director Bigas Luna, best known for launching the careers of Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem will receive a four film tribute this year, including a special Jamon, Jamon event. The festival continues its celebration of visionary directors with Reel Directoras featuring five contemporary Spanish films all helmed by women. Closing the festival is Mexican great Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth, to honour his recent Academy Awards sweep. Visit www.spanishfilmfestival.com for the full program.
To go into the draw, all you have to do is send an email titled 'Spanish Film Festival' to competitions@weekendnotes.com and let us know in 25 words or less which film you would like to see. Please make sure to include your full name and mailing address so we can send you your prize! 1 lucky winner from Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane, Perth and Hobart will be drawn on April 13 2018.
