With entries open to only 120 competitors, the registrations for this event sold out in just a few hours last time and they will surely do the same again this time around. Expect to see some of your favourite TDU pros competing with serious amateurs - all gunning for the prestigious title of King or Queen of the Carpark Climb.
Riders will race against the clock in each of two attempts. They will pair up with another racer in their category (mens/womens road bikes and mens/womens single speed bikes) to gain a cumulative time which will reduce the field to just two winners - the King and the Queen.
Crowds of up to 2000 people are expected and will line the ramps of Wilson's Carpark in Union Street in the city - making a heap of noise with their cowbells as they cheer the riders on their spiral ride up to the top level of the carpark. The atmosphere will be loud and electric!
Outside, there'll be a DJ, plenty of mouth-watering food trucks, and two bars; something for everyone - and the best part is that it's free to watch the race. With big wide ramps there will be plenty of room for everyone to get a great view. There'll be entertainment at halftime and an after party following the final race. It's 100% family friendly and is a highlight of the Tour Down Under calendar. This is an event that you and your family really won't want to miss.
