Pedal power will take over the streets on Sunday 9 October when Queensland's biggest bike ride, the
, pushes off for another year. This year's event will be raising money for The Heart Foundation and Diabetes Australia – Queensland, as well as raising awareness about cycling.
Can you maintain a minimum average cycling speed of 17 km per hour? Then join 10,000 other cycling enthusiasts on a 100 km ride from South Bank via the South East Busway and through Eagleby, Logan, Beenleigh, Coomera, Helensvale, and Hope Island to the Broadwater Parklands, Southport. If a 60 km ride seems more achievable then you can begin your ride at Logan.
Registration is now open for individuals and teams, and entries close at midnight on 3 October.
No entries will be accepted on the day. Fees are: $65 for Bicycle Queensland members; $75 for non-members; $50 for a child aged between 14 and 18 (children under 14 are not allowed to pilot their own bike); and $65 for a team member (teams consist of 10 or more riders). All entrants will go into the draw to win a "$3000 Golden Ticket" to spend at the bike shop of their choice.
After the ride you can rest those aching muscles and celebrate your success at the Post Ride Festival at Broadwater Parklands with live entertainment, food and drink, and the prize presentation. All riders who finish can add a free finisher's T shirt to their sense of achievement.
