'So many worlds, so much to do, so little done, such things to be'. (Tennyson)
Event: -
Deck the Halls with Eucalyptus (Fa la la la la, la la la la)
Everyone's invited to the 12th Willunga Christmas Tree Festival held in Bethany Hall Willunga. It takes place on Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December from 10 am to 4 pm. Entry for children is free. Admission for adults is $3, with the proceeds going to the famous Christmas Bowl appeal.

You can cast your vote for the Christmas Tree that best captures this year's theme Christmas Around the World. Around 60 Christmas trees are expected, decorated by families, businesses, and community groups, some of whom have been planning their tree for months. The result will be a celebration of diverse Christmas traditions, heritage and memories.

The Festival is about more than Christmas trees. There'll be a passport trail to keep kids entertained. You can enjoy a classic Devonshire tea courtesy of Willunga Uniting Church volunteers. You can browse a stall of Christmas crafts, mosaics and stained glass. There'll also be some music.

If you are part of a community group, you can phone Jenny Esots on 8556 2758 to arrange a bus tour for the following week.

Jenny describes the theme of her tree, an Australian Bush Christmas, on the Festival's Facebook page. 'My tree shows a kookaburra named Kenny and other Australian bush animals on a eucalypt. With the words to a favourite Australian hymn 'The North Wind is Tossing the Leaves' which instantly takes me back to my childhood and Christmas' past.'

No doubt a visit to the Festival will inspire us to be much more creative in preparing our own Christmas decorations.

If you love all things Christmas, I recommend the Festival's Facebook page, even if you can't get to the Festival. You'll find details of a class to make your own Christmas wreath, and another to make Christmas cards. Plus there are knitting patterns, recipes, photos to inspire you and more.
