It is the time of year again for the Willunga Almond Blossom Festival. Just like these gorgeous flowers, Willunga will once again be in bloom with a host of fantastic activities for everyone to enjoy. If you need at all need an excuse to head down this way, then this should be it.
Beautiful Almond Blossoms
The Almond Blossom Festival is a time when the town of Willunga comes to life. There are special performances and productions put on for people to enjoy. This year this includes Willunga Can Dance, The Bank SA Marquee Concert, Festival of the Voice, and The Amazing Drumming Monkeys. These are spread over the days of the festival so you are sure to find something fun to go to.
Some of the big attractions are the Youth Big Arvo, and the Family Fair Day. Here you can play arcade games or go on the fun show rides. There will be live music, animal displays and delicious food stalls. It is like a mini Royal Show, but without the ridiculously over priced show bags. There is even the excitement of catching fireworks on Saturday the 30th of July.
There will be a street parade to watch that the whole community gets involved in, and the Farmers Market and the Festival Outdoor Market. Here you can pick up some great buys as well as the deliciously fresh local produce. Make sure you bring along a basket big enough to hold it all.
You can also head along to one of the great Festival Lunches that run from the 1st of August till the 4th, and on Saturday the 6th of August the Festival Ball will be held. The ball features special performances by Motown Connection and One Love Dance Crew. Tickets to the ball sell out fast, so book as soon as possible.
Head to the Willunga Festivals website to find out more about this great event, including booking details and checking maps of the area. This is a great chance to explore this fantastic region. You can always head along to some events, and then continue to some local wineries, or you could wind up your day by dining at one of Willunga's fine eateries. The Festival promises to be a lot of fun and a great way to get to know Willunga.
