For movie buffs who have a passion for Nostalgia Films, Willsy has just the cure with her new season of nostalgia films for those lovers of classic movies. So once again you can enjoy some of the most memorable major films that are bound to be popular with most movie lovers.

What helps make this exciting and outstanding selection so spectacular is each film is digitally re-mastered and each is a classic from various genres and is bound to appeal to movie buffs of all ages. These films will be screened in perfect condition for the first time in decades.

The season consists of some of the most popular and successful films from various genres including drama, adventure, thriller, war, action to romantic comedies. You will see some of the major stars of yesteryear not only from Hollywood, but around the world, including Orson Welles, Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, Cary Grant, Judy Garland, Fred Astair, Sidney Poiter, Katharine Hepburn, David Niven, Walter Pigeon, Greer Garson and Joseph Cotton, and the list goes on. There are too many famous and loved stars to list everyone, but seeing is truly believing.

THE TITFIELD THUNDERBOLT (G)

The Titfield Thunderbolt is a 1953 British comedy film about the efforts of a group of villagers trying to keep their branch of the rail line operating after British Railways plan to close it.

1948 Irving Berlin's Easter Parade is American musical film starring Judy Garland, Fred Astaire and Peter Lawford. The film features some of Astaire and Garland's best-known songs, including Easter Parade, Steppin' Out with My Baby, and We're a Couple of Swells.
 


THE THIRD MAN (PG)

This 1949 British film noir directed by Carol Reed is based on the novel of the same name written by Graham Greene. The movie stars Orson Welles, Joseph Cotten and Trevor Howard. Set in Vienna during post-World War ll it deals with an investigation into what appears to be a suspicious death.
 


THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN (G)

The 1964 American musical film is based on the book by the same name. This musical stars Debbie Reynolds who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Brown. Meredith Willson composed the musical score.

Written and Directed by John Huston this exciting 1948 American dramatic adventurous neo-western stars Humphrey Bogart, Tim Holt and Walter Huston, John Houston's father.

Based on the Broadway play by James Goldman this 1968 historical drama film stars Peter O'Toole (King Henry ll, Katharine Hepburn (Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry's estranged Queen), John Castle, Anthony Hopkins (in his film debut in a major role, as Richard the Lionheart), Jane Merrow (Alais - Henry's mistress), and Timothy Dalton (King Philip ll of France). The film won three Academy Awards, including one for Katharine Hepburn as Best Actress.
 


TO SIR WITH LOVE (PG)

The 1967 British drama film is based on the autobiographical novel by E.R. Braithwaite. The movie stars Sidney Poiter and features Christian Roberts, Judy Geeson and singer Lulu in her debut role. Lulu sung the title song which was a world wide hit that reached number one on the US pop music charts.
 


MRS MINIVER (PG)

Based on the 1940 novel by Jan Struther, the movie was directed by William Wyler. Mrs. Miniver is a 1942 American romantic war drama film starring Greer Garson, and Walter Pigeon . The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (William Wyler), Best Actress (Greer Garson), and Best Supporting Actress (Teresa Wright).
 


TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT (PG)

Based on the1969 novel by Graham Green this 1972 American whimsical romantic fantasy comedy film is directed by George Cukor and stars Maggie Smith, who was nominated for Academy Award for Best Actress, while Anthony Powell was winner for Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
 



WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION (G)

Directed by Billy Wilder this 1957 American courtroom drama film is set in the Old Bailey in London. It is based on Agatha Christie's play by the same name with elements of film noir. The film stars Charles Laughton, Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power (in his final screen role). Tragically Power died from a heart attack after a a pro-longed dueling scene while making the movie Solomon and Sheba.
 


THE BISHOP'S WIFE (G)

This 1947 romantic comedy about an angel who helps a Bishop (David Niven) with his problems with funding the construction of a new cathedral. Cary Grant plays a suave angel who has been sent to spiritually guide the Bishop and his parish. The film was nominated for Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Music.
 


If you register your interest for Willsy's Choice Seasons in 2018 you will be included in the Nostalgia Lottery!

At every Wednesday Nostalgia Session a $10 Holiday Wonders Voucher will be added to the prize pool, and one name will be drawn from the lottery before the screening of the film. If your name is drawn and you are attending that session, you win the prize pool. If no-one wins, the prize pool is carried over to the next Willsy's Choice Session and a new name will be drawn at that session.

Willsy's Choice Sessions commence at 10.30 am and include free tea and coffee on Wednesdays, plus the Wallis Nostalgia Quiz.
