Devour gourmet flavours, topped with your favourite chocolates and lollies at Will's Batch.

In a concept similar to that of Cold Rock , you select toppings to add to your ice-cream, although they are not mashed in as is Cold Rock's selling point. Unlike the popular ice-cream chain though, you will only find Will's Batch in Bentleigh.

Newly opened, it is a welcome addition to the Centre Road shopping strip.

Each ice-cream is made as part of a small batch at the Williamstown Ice Cream Factory. While they supply to sellers of ice-cream throughout Victoria, the Bentleigh shop is the shop front to the boutique factory.

When I went recently, I was overwhelmed by the vast number of choices- and that was before I got to selecting toppings. With flavours such as black forest, tia maria, peanut butter fudge and choc ripple biscuit, it was a hard choice. A wide selection of chocolates and lollies are available to finish your perfect dessert with. I settled on a scoop each of watermelon, which was very nice but did not taste particularly fruity, and hazelnut ice cream in a cup; topped with Tim Tams and Maltesers. It did not disappoint and was every bit as exciting as it sounds.

If you're overwhelmed by all of the combinations and cannot decide what toppings to put with your ice-cream, there is a sundae menu in which they've worked out tasty combinations. Options include Oreo Cookie, Cherry Berry, and Banana Split. With three scoops and a variety of toppings, it is cheaper to get a sundae for $6.50 than to put together your own combination, with three scoops costing $5.50 and toppings at 80 cents each.

While there is bench seating available inside the store, on a nice day you'll want to sit outside. In what was formerly a drab street whose main function was leading to the car park, there are now seats, trees and plants to sit amongst as you enjoy your ice-cream.

Will's Batch can be a little tricky to find if you're not sure where to look, with the entrance hidden away in a Godfrey Street, just behind Nando's.

With generous opening hours, you can get your ice-cream fix at nearly any time of day. On weekdays they open at 11am and closes at 8pm every day except Fridays, when they shut at 11pm. On the weekend, you can visit between 10am and 10pm on a Saturday or between 10am and 8pm on Sunday.
