It is North Shore's biggest spring street party and it just gets bigger and better. Visitors will see a bright colourful street parade embracing ethnic communities, can wander around a great variety of market stalls and enjoy entertainment and activities throughout the day. This popular major community event offers a jam-packed program of live entertainment, rides, food, arts, crafts and it attracted over 120,000 visitors last year.
All are welcome to attend this popular event, which is held in Chatswood CBD. Major streets will be closed off to make room for at least 4 entertainment stages, over 120 stalls, parade of 1000 people and a number of community floats, which will kick off bright and early at 10.00am on Saturday morning.
There will be plenty of festivities to keep adults and children alike busy throughout the whole day. On the entertainment side, there will be several stages where performers will provide everyone with exciting and excellent entertainment.
Kids will be having so much fun at the Kids Corners with stage shows, fabulous face painting and a balloon bender. There will also be a lots of interactive workshops for children, where children can make their own creations.
There are also lots of activities for adults too. If you are an orchid or garden enthusiast, you are bound to be captivated by the spectacular award‐winning orchids with beautiful petals, vibrant colours and fragrant perfume.
The exhibition is hosted by the North Shore Orchid Society at the The Concourse on the 4th and 5th of September 2016 from 9am till 5pm and 9am till 4pm on Sunday. Admission to the orchid fair is FREE!
If you are energised, there are over 100 market stalls for you to peruse along the Victoria Avenue, offering home-deco products, art crafts, jewelry and interactive demonstrations. This is a great opportunity to purchase unique gifts for loved ones or perhaps something special for your home or office.
Of course, there will also be street food markets all day where you can try delicious snack meals (The food stalls will be similar to the ones in the Melody Night Market). If you fancy a sit-down cafe food, Flower Child Cafe is a good choice, or head to Tim Ho Wan for a Hong Kong style yum cha lunch. Otherwise, Hurricane's Express is great for burgers and ribs.
There are so many exciting things to see and do and it is a great day out for families and friends. This fantastic family community event is proudly sponsored by Willoughby City Council.
