It is without a doubt, the most disappointing and frustrating thing, to trudge to a park with young children and discover a few annoying speed bumps on the road to your enjoyment. A. no toilet facilities, B. No secure fencing, C. the equipment is over run with teenagers loitering out of school and monkeying around, and D. the grounds are unkept and without rubbish bins. There is one that definitely avoids all these scenarios and offers a whole lot more and thats Willoughby park.

This park has something for everyone. Starting most importantly with a recently re-designed and upgraded children's playground. With swings, slippery dips, tunnels, balance beams, a new age round- about and some small musical elements, this fully fenced and shaded playground is secure, and large enough for the kids to run free. There is also a full size spiderweb climbing net on the Fourth Avenue border that is naturally shaded most of the day.

Spotted amongst the trees and landscaped gardens are picnic benches and a barbecue area, perfect for family get-togethers and popular for birthday parties all year round.

If entertaining the kids is your primary agenda, there is also a path for bike riding, walking, jogging and skating that weaves through the play side of the park and then circles the full size oval that lies adjacent. The oval provides the perfect place for some outdoor sport and has provisions for soccer in particular, with in-ground soccer posts.

caters to absolutely everyone in the family with a grassed lower oval available for running your pooch. Dogs are permitted on the upper oval at early morning and late afternoon intervals also. For off leash times visit off leash parks on the council website.

Toilet Amenities are provided behind the Community centre that is connected to the Park on the Warrane Road Boundary.

The park can be accessed by bus which stop is 25 m from the Warrane Road and Mc Clelland Street Main Gate. However plenty of Street parking is available on all streets on the perimeter.

provides various fun- filled events throughout the year including the Spring Fair and the very popular Fauna Fair which hosts a great petting zoo for the kids.

A great deal of thought has been invested in by both Council and residents, making it one of the most practical and attractive resources for all of the community.
