Two hours south on the long, canola-lined Albany highway roadtrippers will find themselves in the small, idyllic wheatbelt township of Williams . With a population roughly 400 strong, Williams relies on wool and cattle to keep the money rolling in.

It's no surprise then that Williams biggest tourist attraction is the aptly named , a rustic centre full of local produce, gourmet gifts and an interactive museum.

Inside the Woolshed is The Shed Cafe, a popular spot for locals to catch up and keep an eye on the hundreds of roadtrippers stopping by the quiet country town every week.

The dining area is very spacious with room for around 100 and an outside verandah seating area as well. The food is what draws the locals, and it's easy to see why.

Burgers, sandwiches, salads and other cafe items are all reasonably priced, with a chicken burger setting you back $20. These aren't ordinary city meals either, the Woolshed prides itself on using ingredients sourced as close to home as possible and - with an area so highly regarded for food - this culminates in spectacular results.

The one bummer is the bakery food. The pies, pasties, cakes and sausage rolls are good, very good in fact, but the prices are overly exorbitant. A beef pie will cost you $8.50. Yes you read that right, EIGHT DOLLARS FIFTY FOR A PIE! There is only one bakery in WA that can justify selling pies for that price and that's Miami Bakehouse . Never worry though, there's plenty of other bakeries along Albany highway selling equally delicious produce for half the price.

Behind the dining area is The Shearer's Yarn interactive museum. The exhibit pays homage to the post war shearing shed and wool industry that has shaped the community of Williams. In the museum tourists can get hands on with wool and shearing equipment throughout the post-war era as well as watch theatre and interactive displays based around shearing.

For those wanting to take a bit of Williams home for themselves or their friends and family the Woolshed offers a variety of stores full of tasty treats and hand made goods.

From chocolate to lollies Swag of Sweets has you covered. With locally produced candy lining the walls and many welcome additions from high quality producers such as Denmarks Toffee Factory , this little store is a beacon to the prowess of the Great Southerns sweet-making ability.

Honey, jams and condiments from the region are also proudly displayed amongst hand crafted vases, cutlery, kitchenwares, paintings and jewellery.

The Woolstation - as you might imagine - stocks gifts made of wool and traditional farming clothing. Think Ugg boots, dri-za-bones, wide brimmed hats and a huge array of woolen clothing for all seasons. There's even a small kids section across the other side (conveniently next to the sweets shop).

If you're driving down the Albany highway is a perfect stopover location. With a good range of locally sourced food, relaxed country atmosphere and plenty of gifts and sweets to take home the shed has become one of the most attractive pit stops in the Great Southern region.
