Since American retail giant Williams-Sonoma announced last year it would be bringing its series of lifestyle and homeware stores to Sydney, it has been a long wait to find out when their doors will finally open. But a date has now been set.

Pottery Barn (home furnishings and home decor), Williams-Sonoma (cookware), Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm (furniture) will all open to their first Sydney customers on Thursday May 2. They will be located in the new Exchange Building at Bondi Junction, opposite Westfield Bondi Junction, and it will be the first time any have been opened outside North America.

Laura Alber, the president and chief executive of Williams-Sonoma Inc, says, "The location at Bondi Junction gives us the opportunity to showcase all four brands together in a truly unique way. We look forward to sharing our exceptional home furnishings along with unique in-store experiences and outstanding customer service with Australian customers who want to decorate, entertain and live well."

Now the date has been revealed, the real countdown can begin.
