Wildflower Restaurant and Bar is situated on the ground floor of the Lake Kawana Hotel operated by the Best Western Plus group. Choosing to dine here at the restaurant and drinks at the bar proved to be a great choice. Sometimes a hotel is great but the food may not be. In this case, both the hotel and the restaurant and food were top quality.
Arriving on a Friday night, I decided to have a bite to eat and a drink which ended up being a great way to start my weekend. Sitting with my glass of Sauvignon Blanc and overlooking the tranquil Lake Kawana, I waited briefly for my salt and pepper calamari. Together it cost me only $15 due to cashing in on their "happy hour" which is Friday night 5pm to 7pm.
Being so close to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the place was buzzing with hospital staff also enjoying the chance to "wine down" with good food, a glass of something cold and a spectacular view of the lake.
The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner every day and open for lunch during the week only. They serve modern cuisine with fine dining options along with a quick bite to eat. Snacks are on offer throughout the day with coffee and sweet treats also on offer in the bar area. Our lunches at the retreat were prepared by the hotel chef and were fresh and tasty.
There is seating indoors with air conditioning or you can choose to sit out on the deck to have the alfresco experience right on the water's edge.
The restaurant and bar are open to guests of the hotel along with the public and there is free undercover car park under the hotel for restaurant patrons. The hotel is also an ideal place for hosting a conference or workshop and after spending the weekend here, I was very relaxed and felt well looked after.
