Opens early, closes late, great menu

This bustling cafe by day, restaurant by night is like New York, the city that never sleeps. They open at 7.00 am and close at around 10.00 pm.

Situated within walking distance from my home, this is definitely my local.

The cafe/restaurant is very well located in the Stockland Cammeray Square precinct which also houses a pharmacy, Hudsons butchery, Harris Farm food market, a childcare and medical centre, several other shops, and a number of upstairs apartments.

Directly opposite is the bus-stop, where you can catch the peak hour bus and be in the City in seven minutes.

Breakfasts here are my favourite.

A display of gigantic berry muffins, friands and banana breads awaits you at the entrance. If you get past them and the enticing cake counter, you might get a chance to see the rest of the menu.

Coffee, Tea or Muffins ?

Whether it's a traditional breakfast choice or something a little away from the norm, there's plenty to choose from. The pea and corn fritters are one of my husband's favourites, whilst I often toss up between one of the selection of delicious omelettes or the Char Grilled Chorizo with Pesto scrambled eggs and red onion jam. When I need comfort food, the creamy porridge served with rhubarb is to die for.

Cake Temptations for Morning or Afternoon Tea

The "Bakery Temptations" are an edible feast - I definitely eat with my eyes before I savour the flavours! Gluten free goodies are also available. Their gluten-free bread comes from a local bakery. It's so good you hardly know it's gluten-free.

There is too much to write about here, so study the menu and come back a few times.

If you're a coffee drinker, you won't be disappointed here. Cammeray has several cafe's but I would have to say that some of the best coffee is found at Wild Sage.

The breakfast clientele is a mix of those conducting a business meeting, friends catching up for a quick breakfast before hopping onto the Express Bus to the City, parents and grandparents sharing a quick meal before dropping the kids to the local school or to the daycare centre located in the building, or people like me who like to undertake the 25 minute uphill walk which burns up less calories than I am about to consume!

Lunch starts at mid-day here. It's always abuzz with a mixture of locals, groups sharing conversation over lunch, singles escaping for a few quiet moments ... with their iPad, smartphone or laptop! If you don't bring them, there's always a good selection of newspapers so you can catch up on the news.

The lunch menu is interesting and healthy, and portions are generous. That's unless you choose items from the light menu or tapas menu. In addition the "blackboard menu" which is written in colour on a very large mirror, always has some interesting creations by the resident chef, Italian born Juri Alberti.

Open Kitchen

If you missed breakfast, you can order from the Brunch Menu. Otherwise, go straight to lunch and choose from a wide variety of meat, seafood or chicken dishes, or maybe a pasta, risotto or elegant salad.

The restaurant is licenced but allows BYO wine only, charging $3.50 per person corkage.

Dinner has a different atmosphere again. In summer it's a real buzz, and as the days get shorter the clientele is a mix of groups of friends out for a long night, local residents who relish the idea of not cooking after a long day, and couples grabbing a light bite before they head off to a show.

Being so conveniently located makes this a great meeting place for friends from all directions. With free 2 hour parking downstairs, you can eat, talk and drink and get your shopping done, all in one place, or should is say Plaza!
