Have you ever been on a wild goose chase?

Some of us have! This is an opportunity to have fun and a day away from it all in the beautiful Avon Valley. The Wild Goose Chase is back again for 2018!

It will be on 29th June to 1st July, 2018 from 12 noon to 8.00 pm on the 1st. Join in for this iconic event at the Avon Valley National Park - the Wild Goose Chase Running Festival is Australia's newest Multi-Day event on the running calendar.

The distances involved include the following:
19 kms
22.5 kms
45 kms
53 kms
106 kms
The mighty multi-day races including Loose Goose 85 km and Duck's Nuts at a whopping 177 kms

If you are serious about getting fit or if you are just wanting to enter this competition for the fun of it, there is a race for you!

This festival has an outstanding selection of trail races from 5 kms for the children up to the 177 kms for the multi-day events. There is plenty of elevation for each course and all this is set in an ideal Australian bushland setting. The course is designed to encourage and test all levels of ability.

The festival is held around the Wild Goose Village in Morangup. Here there are kangaroos, kookaburras and emus. The trails where you will be running will take you through the delightful, picturesque Avon Valley National Park with its winding roads, hills and valleys.

The Village Hub will provide catering facilities, a food mess hall, toilets and hot water showers. There will also be a phone charging station, sponsor's merchandise tents and more.

All vehicles are to be parked at the WWII airstrip, approx. 2.5 kms east of the village. There will be several shuttle buses running all day long to take runners and supporters to and from the village.

The flagship race is the Wild Goose 100 Ultra (106 kms) and includes over 3900 metres of elevation, precarious downhills, goat trails, "bum slides", severe and strenuous climbs, as well as some smaller steep hills. Some of these hills have the most stunning views across the Avon River.

This race is so rigorous that ITRA and Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc have awarded this the 5 UTMB qualifying points, one of only two races in Australasia to do so over a100 km distance.

If this is a bit much for you, you could choose to try your hand at the 53 km Ultra which has less than 2000 m of elevation and will gain you an amazing 3 UTMB points.

With two multi-day events aptly named the Loose Goose (18 km, 45 km, or 22.5 km) and the Duck's Nuts (18 km, 106 km, or 53 km), these races are designed to test your "grit, determination, stamina, dedication and overall mental insanity levels."

The hill climb of 18 kms is a good warm-up for the weekend on the Friday before, and other distance options of 22.5 kms and 45 kms are also on offer.

Not to be taken lightly, this will be an event that will test many of your senses and strength. There will be goat tracks, downhill speed runs, running along a creek and uncompromising uphill runs.

This festival will no doubt leave you telling many fine stories!.

The main hub for the weekend is centred around the Wild Goose Chase Festival Village at CEC Burrows campground, where you are able to camp over the three days. Here, there is also room for caravans, camper trailers and each race begins and ends at this spot.

You could make a weekend out of it and bring your children while you all sit around the campfires at the end of a hard day and tell some yarns!

This will be a really memorable weekend for the whole family. It is highly recommended that you camp if you are going to enter the 106 km and multi-day options. There are also "glamping" facilities available.

Why not make the effort and join what is possibly one of Australasia's premier International events!
