The
Wild About Babies Exhibit at Yarra's Edge Promenade at Melbourne's Docklands is a little more special than just checking out 20 life-sized statues by renowned artists
Gillie and Marc these school holidays. This iconic installation of 20 life-sized statues, that includes a three-metre-high Mountain Gorilla (see pic above with the artists themselves - 2nd & 3rd from the left in the image), have been created and designed to raise awareness and show support for the
World Wide Fund for Nature Australia (WWF Australia). You might have seen other artwork of theirs we have right here in Melbourne right outside Republica on St Kilda beach,
Dogman and Rabbitwoman.
Commissioned by
Mirvac, the animal conservation project aims to educate the community about the threats to our most vulnerable species, while raising important funds for
WWF-Australia. Each animal features a QR code on its plaque, allowing visitors to learn more about the species and provide access to direct donations. Feel free to do so generously and with love at this gentle reminder that endangered species need your help. Meet the

Apart from the magnificent sculptures to admire, there's some fun attached to the exhibit. There's a competition running as aforementioned, where you get a chance to name your favourite animal.
Enter the competition here to become part of history. Submit your suggested animal names with a 25 word explanation for a chance to win naming rights for one of the animals. Winners will have their chosen names engraved on each animal's plaque permanently, and will receive a limited-edition

Wild About Babies' print valued at $880.
Mirvac will also donate $100 to WWF-Australia on the winner's behalf. Your name will be featured on the respective animal's webpage. The
competition is open from 25 June to 14 July 2022, with
winners announced on Wednesday 31 August.
