Located in the Yarra Valley near the outskirts of Healesville is a vibrant, luxurious country retreat that's nestled amongst rolling hills with stunning views and fresh country air. has a perfect position on a hill that offers serene surroundings. This also makes for spectacular sunsets, that set perfectly with the green valleys gradually changing into a different hue.

The driveway to the property is lined with willow trees and when you enter you will be greeted by a welcoming committee of geese, this was a very cheerful surprise when I drove in. They gathered together and started honking which I'm guessing would have translated to 'Enjoy your stay at the farm.'

Gillie St. George, who is the owner of the property, is one of the warmest and most delightful people my wife and I ever had the pleasure of meeting. She made sure we had a pleasant stay at the farm and she also takes great pride in the up-keep of Wiggley Bottom.

If you're wondering where the farm got its name, it's named after a dalmatian that Gillie owned who used to wiggle its bottom, and hence Wiggley Bottom was born. If you take a closer look at the logo for you'll see a dalmatian.

The property consists of 3 types of accommodation: the apartment, the cottage and the house. If need be you can book the entire property, which can accommodate a total of 8 people, 2 in the cottage, 2 in the apartment and 4 in the house.

The interior of the property was all completed by Gillie herself. The decor is so tasteful and luxurious that it sets the tone for your relaxing escape, not to mention that the cottage used to be a garage and now it exudes the five-star feel.

We had the pleasure of staying in the cosy cottage. It features all modern amenities and includes a bedroom with a queen bed, separate lounge with TV and DVD, kitchen with dishwasher and coffee machine, bathroom with walk-in shower and a European laundry. All linen is supplied, high chair and single fold-out bed are available on request. It also has reverse-cycle air-conditioning. The cherry on the cake was is the wood-fired heater which came in handy during the cold night. Outside the cottage are extensive lawns, a paved BBQ area and ample outdoor furniture.

One of the best features of is that it's animal friendly. The cottage has an open pen area with a kennel and pets are also welcomed at the apartment and the house. There is also the option of leaving your pets at Dog Day Care just across the road which costs $15 per day.

The highlight of my stay was when I got to meet the animals on the farm, which consist of horses, geese, goats, and Gillie's four dogs Ziggy Stardust, Teddy B. Bear, Polly Waffle and Zorro. Being an animal lover it made my stay even greater.

also offers private wine tours that accommodate 2-8 people. You'll visit unique wineries, taste gourmet local produce and have a 2 course lunch at one of the many fabulous Yarra Valley restaurants/wineries. Click here for more information.

The attractions of the Yarra Valley are right at your doorstep. Healesville town is a measly 5 minutes away, and magnificent wineries, impressive restaurants and cafes, cheese makers, and fresh produce are within a short drive. And the famous Healesville Sanctuary is just around the corner. Talk about being convenient.

My stay at was truly a memorable experience, it was the perfect remedy to a long week, keeping the stresses of the monotonous rat race at bay. Staying in the countryside close to nature immensely elevates your senses, and those moments make us appreciate life much more. It really is the ideal place for a romantic break or family holiday at any time of year.
