Celebrating our mothers is important and in the daily rush of life sometimes it can be difficult to find time to properly show them how much we appreciate everything they do for us.
Around the Wide Bay region there are some great Mother's Day events, all of which are excellent opportunities for us all to make sure we treat our mothers to a great day out just to say thanks.
The Civic Centre in Churchill Street, Childers will come on the afternoon of the 11th of May as the Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra presents a special concert for mums, grandmothers and their families.
Doors open at 2:00pm and entry is a gold coin donation. There's music for all ages and the orchestra is sure to put on a great show.
The Mother's Day Classic charity walk for breast cancer awareness will take off in both Hervey Bay and Bundaberg (as well as 88 other locations around Australia).
For a gold coin donation bring a picnic rug and enjoy a barbecue picnic after you take part in the 5k sponsored walk - or run, if you're very keen - to celebrate and support womanhood, motherhood and those who have fought or are fighting the breast cancer battle.
There will be plenty of entertainment and activities taking place around the course in both locations, so if you are happy to come along and support those participating there will be plenty to keep you entertained.
In Hervey Bay, the walk begins at the All Abilities Park near Seafront Oval on the 11th of May.
In Bundaberg the walk starts at 9:00am and will weave from Bargara Basin and back to Nielson Park.
Further along the road in Maryborough, The Anglican Board of Mission Craft Group will be holding a Mother's Day Craft Stall at the Heritage City Markets on Thursday, 8th May. The stall will be set up at the Adelaide Street entrance outside St. Paul's Memorial Hall.
There will be raffle tickets, food stalls and a great array of handmade and crafted clothes and trinkets for mums and families to trawl through.
All proceeds will go towards the Health Commission Support Project in South Sudan. This project focuses on the needs of people in rural communities and remote areas.
So there is no excuse this year and there is something for everyone, active mums, musical mums and crafty mums. After a breakfast in bed and a showering of gifts, be sure to treat your mother to one of the great local events.
