WICKED, The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz (WICKED), will fly into the Lyric Theatre QPAC at the Cultural Precinct, Cnr Grey and Melbourne Streets, South Bank from Thursday, 12 February 2015.

Based on Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, WICKED, the musical, recounts the story of the witches of Oz from before and after Dorothy and Toto's arrival with several clever references to the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, and the original L. Frank Baum's classic 1900 story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

WICKED tells the story of two unlikely friends, Elphaba and Glinda who struggle to maintain their friendship because of their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace.

Since its 30 October, 2003 Broadway debut, WICKED has won 90 major awards including a Grammy®, three Tony Awards® and six Helpmann Awards® including Best Musical and has broken box office records around the world, including in Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, and London.

This 10th Anniversary tour of 'Broadway's biggest blockbuster' (The New York Times) at the Lyric Theatre stars Suzie Mathers as Glinda, Jemma Rix as Elphaba, Steve Danielsen as Fiyero, Maggie Kirkpatrick as Madame Morrible, Emily Cascarino as Nessarose, Edward Grey as Boq, Glen Hogstrom as Dr Dillamond and Simon Gallaher as The Wizard. Winnie Holliman's book, WICKED, has been written to strengthen understanding of the musical.

WICKED's music and lyrics are written by Stephen Schwartz, its musical staging is by Wayne Cilento, Lisa Leguillou provides the direction and Marc Platt, David Stone, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and John Frost are its producers.

An awe-inspiring spectacular, WICKED is suitable for everybody aged 8 years and above.
