The Highest-Grossing Broadway Show for 2012

For the ninth year in a row, Wicked has grossed the most money for the Broadway box office. Watch this musical at the Gershwin Theatre (222 West 51st Street) every night except Mondays. The previous record was held by The Phantom of The Opera, which lead the box office for 8 years straight.

The musical is based on a story by Gregory Maguire. The story takes place in the land of Oz and tells the tale of two girls who become frienemies, Galinda and Elphaba. They both grow up to be the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of The West, two key players in the Wizard of Oz.

The musical still pulls in millions a week, and did the last week of 2012, slightly ahead of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. Wicked The Musical is expected to break the $3 million earnings mark this year alone.

To see Wicked, an untold story of the witches of Oz, visit the Gershwin Theater website or Ticketmaster. Ticket prices range from $97 - $157.00.
