Written and directed by Kamarra Bell-Wykes, you're invited to an absurd group therapy session held somewhere in the deepest cells of the collective mind and the colonised heart. A post-traumatic performance thesis winning the 2021 Patrick White Playwriting Award,
Whose Gonna Love 'Em? I am that i AM stars Maggie Church-Kopp, Corey Saylor-Brunskill, and Maurial Spearim, accompanied by a live improvisational score by smallsound,
Whose Gonna Love 'Em? I am that i AM will grace the Malthouse Theatre, 113 Sturt St, Melbourne from
22 November to 3 December 2023 from 6.30pm at the Tower (55 mins with no interval) and is
part of a double billing with Chase. Opening Night has already sold out so be sure to
get your tickets quick smart so you're not disappointed.
Chase, the other half of the double billing runs the same dates as above with the performance starting at
8pm at the Beckett Theatre (duration 70 mins with no interval). You can book your
tickets here . Chase is a woman living her best life, but there's no one to see it. She's planning a party to end all parties, the party to end the world, and she's inviting her zany crew of besties and YouTube subscribers for company. That's if any of them actually even exist. Carly Sheppard has been developing and performing the character of Chase for nearly a decade. Now she joins forces with Kamarra Bell-Wykes to deliver the most over-the-top, cracked version of Chase yet!
Presented by A Daylight Connection, they're a motley crew of innovative and visionary theatre-makers, reimagining what First Nations theatre can be. Formed in 2022 they are an explosive union of equally weird and talented artists, dedicated to making kick-arse art rigorously and safely, hell-bent on taking their unique brand of post-traumatic adventure theatre to Australia and the world.
