A fun family event that teaches kids about other cultures
Westgarth Primary School are holding their Whopping Great Fete on Sunday, October 18 from 10am to 4pm. The Whopping Great Fete is a prime opportunity for everyone to observe Westgarth's culinary prowess with a range of food stalls containing food from across the world.
The newest stall addition is the "Sabores Ibero-America" stall which showcases food from the home countries of the Spanish families who attend the school. There will also be stalls featuring food from Mexico, Spain, Greece, France and various countries of Asia, as well as home produce, gardening, craft, secondhand goods and cake stalls too.
The Whopping Great Fete is a homemade and home grown festival with parents contributing everything - even the beer and wine! The fete bar will be stocked by parent wine marker called The Hairy Arm, as well as craft beer made by a parent brewer.
A variety of musical talents will be performing throughout the day, along with the students presenting the school's biannual musical, all supported by a parent sound engineer and his crew.
An abundance of entertainment and activities to keep children of all ages amused will be present, plus a silent auction with amazing prize opportunities such as holiday house stays, vouchers, even a commission free property sale with all advertising costs included - plus so much more!
This appears to be a well thought out and well supported activity. A lot of parent involvement is good to see as not only do they make a great contribution on the day but they set a marvellous role model for their children.
