Whitman's Sampler Chocolate

I recently had the pleasure of receiving a 1.1kg Whitman's Sampler box of chocolates. That's right- over a kilo of gorgeous chocolates!
As one of America's oldest confectioners, Whitman's makes chocolates with a touch of tradition. That's not to say they're old-fashioned; Whitman was just 19 when he started selling unique chocolates in Philadelphia.
The box has a pretty wide range of chocolates, including almond nougat, fudges, toffees, caramels, crèmes, cashew clusters, and the trademark messenger boy chocolates.
Chocolate covered peanuts: pretty standard, nothing surprising here to be honest - the peanut M&Ms are tastier.
Chocolate coloured almonds: Like the peanuts, not anything surprising.
Caramels: Wonderful little mouthfuls. I love savouring the caramels so they do last for a while melting in my mouth.
Chocolate whip nougat: I'm weak for nougat. Chewy and airy.
Cashew cluster: Served up in little paper cups, also quite standard- but admittedly tasty.
Molasses chew: Not a fan of the molasses taste, but people who are will probably like this one. It's cute, too- it's the one with the white stripes.
Messenger boy: The prettiest of them all, but it's just plain milk chocolate. It's alright as a bite of just chocolate.
Chocolate truffle: Filled with dark chocolate, which I adore. Very lovely. A personal favourite.
All in all, not a bad box of chocolates- it's something of an adventure trying all the different kinds!
