The Whitlams - Live at the Quarry

In January 2009, The Whitlams sold out three shows at the Quarry Amphitheatre. And in 2012, they'll be back, performing live at the same venue, no doubt to more sold out shows.

The Whitlams have released 6 albums, won countless ARIA awards, and had a number one single in the 1997 Hottest 100 chart with 'No Aphrodisiac'. The group appeals to a varied group of listeners, young to old, and the lyrics of their songs are nothing short of amazing.

Playing three dates again in January, with one show already sold out (Jan 27), The Whitlams with frontman Tim Freedman will once again give a performance that shouldn't be missed.

The Whitlams formed in 1992, and although there has been some band member changes over the years, Tim Freedman has been their constant vocalist. I can only imagine if he ever decides to go solo, The Whitlams will be no more. His voice is easily picked in a line-up (of other voices) with it's deep and haunting tones.

'Live at the Quarry' was launched in 2008 with a series of nine concerts which ended up being a huge success. So for 2009, Mellen Events and Lloyd Events joined forces to present another great, successful season. The venue is an outdoor amphitheatre, with escalating seating. This allows for great views of the stage anywhere, and a relaxing environment to enjoy the show in.

If you've only heard a few of The Whitlams' popular hits, like 'Blow Up the Pokies' and 'No Aphrodisiac', I suggest getting your hands on their 2008 album 'Truth, Beauty and a Picture Of You: Best of The Whitlams'. Along with these tracks, you'll hear some lesser known, but just as great. Like 'Buy Now Pay Later' and 'I Make Hamburgers'. Check out Tim's performance on 'The Morning Show' below. This should give you a taste of some of the clever lyrics you'll see from The Whitlams.

Tickets for The Whitlams 'Live at the Quarry' can be snapped up right here from Ticketmaster. There will be a stage, not sure about red light though, and certainly not a dodgy P.A.
