You'll wish you were a kid again too
Whiteman Park is a huge park based in Perth's northern suburbs, on the cusp of the beautiful Swan Valley. Stretching over a total size of 4,000 hectares, there is so much to do in Whiteman Park that you can easily spend a whole weekend there and still not have seen everything there is to see.

In addition to the numerous attractions, Whiteman Park also plays home to some really lovely playgrounds. The Whiteman Park Village Playground, is one of our favourites in the park due to its proximity to the Bennett Brook Railway . My son is currently obsessed with all things train related, so as soon as we get into the park and hear the 'choo choo' whistles, we are (willingly) dragged up towards the railway, and head to the village playground en-route or on our way back.

The Playground

Great playground for all ages

The playground is a large one, partially gated and suited to a variety of ages. There is a plentitude of apparatus, with areas designated for toddlers and big kids alike.

A choice of slides for your little guys

There is so much choice of things to play on, climb in, slide down, hang from and run around, all neatly arranged on a gentle sand floor. I don't think I have ever seen so many slides in one park, and certainly on a busy day, there's lots of room for a large number of kids to play cohesively without fighting over who's turn it is next on the slide.

In addition to the large play frames and slide structures, there are a few standalone hop on type see-saw play equipment. The double horse see-saw seems the most popular of these especially with little girls.

Shade sails provide excellent cover

One of the things I love about this playground is the fact that it's so well shaded. The shade sails all across the playground make this a perfect place for sun safe play, and prevents the play frames getting hot. I have been to other more exposed parks and in the Summertime, after midday, you can't let your children touch the metal equipment as it's just too hot. The shade here prevents over heating, of both the equipment and your youngsters making it a perfect spot for all seasons.

A choice of playframes for different ages

I've only been to this playground with my toddler, but I would definitely recommend this park for families with kids of mixed ages. This is a park where consideration has been given to the whole family's enjoyment. Big kids will love the exciting climbing frames, and little kids will love the soft sand and the colourful toddler area. There's plenty for everyone. For the toddlers, their area is nicely set apart from the bigger frames with lots of height appropriate play fixtures.

For the bigger and confident kids, the highlight of the park appears to be the very high climbing frame that leads to a spiralling slide descent. I really wanted to try this slide out for you, but the sign on it says that it is for use by children only. I didn't think that being a big kid would qualify me here. Parental supervision is a must on this slide frame as it is very high.

This is a free, public playground, and due to it's accessibility to picnic benches and public toilets, this is a great spot to easily spend a budget friendly afternoon with your kids or a group of family and friends.
