Whiteman Park big playground has had a recent makeover

The big playground at Whiteman Park, Village West Playground, has had a makeover! If you haven't been there for a couple of months, you should definitely plan a playdate there. Everything is new!

There are now 3 main play apparatus, one for younger children, one for older children and one for in-between children! It is mostly covered with shade sails and there are benches dotted around the enclosed area for parents to have a sit down, or tables and benches outside the enclosed area. There is one entry/exit point and the ground is covered with sand, as before.

You will also find a triangular double climbing net, swings (2 for younger children, 2 for older children and a bird nest swing), a springy see-saw, springy walk/sit on thingy, a sand digger, rockers, some musical instruments attached to the main apparatus, cute little table and chairs, climbing walls, plank bridge, cubby houses underneath the main equipment, the list goes on and on.

There is so much to entertain the children here, but if they get bored of the play equipment, get them to play 'trains' as there is a train track that connects the areas together.

Then when they bored of that, don't forget the splash park (open during the summer months), the go kart hire, Revolutions Transport Museum, Children's Forest, take a train or tram ride, a free vintage bus tour of Whiteman Park (Mondays), plus heaps more! Check the links as not all attractions are open every day.

Make a day of it and bring lunch (BBQ or picnic), or buy lunch at the Village Cafe. Dogs (on a lead) are welcome too at Whiteman Park, but not in the playground. Have your next family gathering or party here and hire a shelter!

The new playground was a winner when we last visited in August 2016. We went after school and it was deserted! I'm sure the weekends will be another story and a sunny day at the weekend another story again!
