The White Rabbit gallery is a pristine renovated warehouse packed with all kinds of Chinese art located in Sydney's quiet inner city suburb Chippendale. Jump off the train at Central and grab a coffee and bagel from one of the bustling little bohemian cafes around the corner before heading over to the collection. It's free too.
There are four floors of artworks, including sculpture, painting, animation and installation. It's great to get a huge fill of Chinese art and leave with a genuine insight into the contemporary Chinese art scene. Friendly floor staff are there if you need a little help coming to grips with things like a bed adorned with spiky soft objects, talking mannequins and some adults only feminist photography.
When you're done looking at the art, top up just a little more with some delicious tea from the tea house downstairs. Soak up the gallery's calm while you sip your choice of tea and scrumptuous treats. Refresh yourself and maybe dive back into the collection for a closer look at your favorites, head up to the top floor library for a quiet read, or simply head home brimming with inspiration.
