[ADVERT]$20 at the White Cockatoo Hotel rewards you with a giant chicken schnitzel with almost any topping you can imagine. The experience can be compared to eating a pizza with a base made of crumbed chicken. Toppings include traditional Hawaiian and supreme flavours, but also include Mexican, Italian, Boscaola, Aussie (bacon, eggs and the works), Parmigiana and Spanish to name a few. Almost all come hidden underneath a thick layer of melted cheese.
The real challenge with giant chicken schnitzels is finishing one. The three times I've visited I've not been able to finish a quarter, and even sharing with a friend I'm unable to finish half. They expect you to ask for take away containers. Occasionally you get the privilege of witnessing a person defeat the schnitzel. It's a proud moment for everyone.
Platters are delivered to your table, and that's about the extent of the personal service offered. Staff aren't overly friendly, and the atmosphere somewhat seedy, but most are willing to overlook that for value for food.
It's best value for money to share one between two. Don't bother with the side of chips; they only take up stomach room. Not for the faint-hearted.
