Here I go again, writing about my love of whisky, uisge-beatha, the water of life. With a wee dram of Highland Park in hand, let me tell you about another Whisky Live event; this time in Sydney. Whisky Live Sydney will showcase a large selection of premium whiskies and spirits. And you can sample them all. Cheers to that!



Whisky Live and Fine Spirits is the place to discover lots of quality brands. There will be heaps for all tastes to experience. Naturally, there will be a selection of food to nibble on while tasting. If you love what you taste, you can purchase a bottle to take home. This event will be right up your alley if you are a whisky lover, of course. However, it is designed to appeal to the gin, vodka, rum and other spirits lovers too. Well, that's most everyone I know. It will present whiskies and spirits by brand, with experts on hand to entertain and educate you as you taste these top-drawer spirits.



The Rare and Old Bar will have a fine selection of rare and old whiskies. These are expensive and/or difficult to find bottles, such as older bottles of The Macallan (my favourite). A wee sample of these rarities may be bought on the day to allow you to try these special expressions at an affordable price. You can taste a whisky from a closed distillery perhaps or a limited release from a previous distilling era. They promise to have a good range with prices from $18.



Where is it at?
It's being held at the InterContinental Sydney on the corner of Phillip and Bridge Streets, near Circular Quay station, so it is easy to get to by public transport. Of course, you will want to leave your car at home - this event is not one you should drive home from.



Session Times:
There are three separate sessions you can choose from, each one being three and a half hours, so plenty of time to taste lots of different whiskies or spirits.
1. Friday 11th May from 6:00 pm to 9.30 pm.
2. Saturday 12th May from 12:00 noon to 3.30 pm.
3. Saturday 12th May from 5:00 pm 8.30 pm.



Tickets:
The cost of each session is $110 per person. Your ticket entitles you to experience all the whiskies for sampling at the whisky stands and an assortment of food to graze while tasting. A commemorative whisky glass is supplied for you to take home and keep. Every time you use it, it will remind you of this special occasion. There will be a Tasting Guide available, both at the event and online, before the event for you to download to get more out of your tastings. The guide lists all the whiskies (including Aberlour and Aberfeldy) and spirits for sampling and gives flavour profiles, so you can select your preferred expressions and plan the order you would like to taste them. Please note that whiskies at the Rare and Old Bar are not included in the ticket price. Your tickets will be emailed to you to print straight after your purchase.
