Where can you have your cake and eat it too?
Do you remember watching those old black and white crime movies from the 1940s on the telly where the condemned prisoner is offered his choice of meal before being escorted at dawn to be executed? Any last requests, they were asked.
Having experienced breakfast at Whiskey Business Cafe in Capalaba over the weekend I certainly know what I would request as my last meal: a Ferrero Thickshake.
This mug of deliciousness reminded me of another movie, about baseball this time, from the 80s. "Is this Heaven?" No, it's a gourmet thickshake.
This is one very different little Cafe, not only because of its changing range of gourmet thickshakes, rather that the house speciality is handmade macarons. The front counter is an array of these colourful little French treats, and the huge variety of different flavours makes it ever so hard to make a choice - Nutella, Apple and Rhubarb, Lemon, Jam Donut, and Latte to name a few. These are very popular for parties and functions and you can discuss orders with the staff in person or by phone. For an additional fee, these orders can also be delivered.
Whiskey Business is located at Shop 4, 200 Old Cleveland Road, which is essentially at the entrance of the Golden Circle Factory Outlet shopping precinct which makes it fairly unremarkable.
The Cafe has half a dozen tables outside the front of the premises , all in close proximity, and patrons were all chatting, reading and playing Scrabble or Chess whilst eating. There are also a few tables inside, and although the eating area is both limited and cosy Whiskey Business had a great little vibe going on.
All Day Breakfasts are available from Monday to Friday from 8am till 3pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 7am till 3pm.
Breakfasts include Pancake Stacks, all things Bacon and Eggs, and for the vegetarians a dish comprised of whole baked field mushrooms, haloumi, avocado, poached egg, rocket and balsamic.
And my Ferrero Thickshake.

There is a limited luncheon menu and next time I drive past I want to stop for a Goat Pie. Yes, you read that correctly: a Goat Pie. Would this be interesting to try or not!
Whiskey Business also caters for high teas on weekends. You would be best to chat with the staff for more details on 07 3245 5313
Prices seemed a bit more expensive than most cafes ($9 for most Thick shakes), but then the menu and the portions served are more expansive than most cafes. For a special occasion, or for something different, this is a must do experience.
Though thinking of a 90s movie featuring a large iceberg I think if I frequented Whiskey Business too often I might just go down with the ship.
