I'm a freelance writer living in Perth. Having 2 young kids with endless energy, we are always on the lookout for new outdoor activities.

Free Weekly Kids Activities at the State Library of WA
Every week during school terms, on Mondays and Thursdays, pre-school kids (5 years old and below) are invited to drop in at anytime between 10 am – 2 pm to the Place (Mezzanine Level of the State Library of Western Australia, Perth Cultural Centre) for free fun activities.

The theme for Term 4 is "Whiskers, Wings and Scaly Things" so obviously it would have something to do with animals. Some of the activities will highlight some of our favourite animal book characters.

Theme for Term 4 is Animals. Feel free to bring your favourite animal toy along.

The complete schedule for Term 4 is as follow:
  • 19, 22 October – Woof, miaow, squeak – role play as a pet

  • 26, 29 October – Hairy Maclary play dough fun

  • 2, 5 November – 'Find me a Tiger' treasure hunt

  • 9, 12 November – Hickory Dickory Dock – make a clock

  • 16, 19 November – Use stamps to make a pet scene

  • 23, 26 November- Bird collage on the lightbox

  • 30 November, 3 December – Use shapes to make an animal house

  • 7, 10 December – Sequence Hairy Maclary and friends

  • 14, 17 December– Christmas craft and discovery boxes

So if you have any kids in that age group, don't schedule anything on Mondays or Thursdays, and you can get yourself a free entertaining day at the Place every week, where your kids can have fun while learn something new.
