While You Were Sleeping – TV Series Review



This review is about the Korean drama series called While You Were Sleeping. It doesn't have any connection at all with the American romantic comedy film of the same title starring Sandra Bullock as the main character. This Korean drama series had Korean start-studded actors and actresses, such as Lee Jong-suk, Bae Suzy, Lee Sang-yeob, and Jung Hae-in (you can see Jung Haie-in in another controversial Korean drama series, Snowdrop) .

While You Were Sleeping portrays Nam Hong-Joo (Bae Suzy) who ever since she was a child had the ability to see bad events before they occurred. Hong-Joo had visions through her dreams of terrible things that will happen to people in the future. She is haunted by seeing the future deaths of others in her dreams. However, she's often powerless to stop them from happening.

Living across the street from her was the prosecutor Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk) who had seemingly also acquired the ability to foresee future events as well. The police officer (Jung Hae In) survived a car accident involving Hong-Joo, and also gains the ability to see the future. These three individuals realised that their lives were somehow intertwined through the dreams they keep having of one another.

While You Were Sleeping is a 2017 South Korean drama series directed by Oh Choong Hwan. and the script was written by Park Hye Ryun, who previously worked with Lee Jong Suk in the drama Pinocchio (2014). A lot of surprises came along the episodes with a surprise ending that explained why the 3 main characters had the ability to see the future.
